After taking a hiatus from my blog last month I really wanted to get back on track in September.
Per usual, I did not do as much as I wanted too but I did get back on track with my posting schedule which was my most important goal.
Content is KEY and it needs to be useful information that solves a problem or answers a question. In other words, it is critical to understand user intent.
I still have a lot to learn in this area.
In fact the more I get into blogging the more I learn and the more I have to go back and fix things. I am to a point where I need to stop learning so I can catch myself back up and focus on growing my blog.

Before I go into my stats for my 9th month I want to disclose why I am writing this post. Blog income reports are what got me here today. They have inspired me and keep my motivation going so I want to do the same for you! It also holds me accountable and allows me to track my progress.
So I hope you find this report helpful.
If you are wondering the steps I took to start my blog you can check that out here.

Month number 9 blog results
Goals
Ninth month goals:
- 10,000 page views
- Publish 4-6 posts
- Update 2 old posts for SEO
- Analyze content that converts well
I based these goals off my eighth month results which you can read here.
So how did I do?
Goal | Actual | Met (Y/N)? |
10,000 Monthly Page Views | 2,490 (3,352) | N |
Publish 4-6 posts | – | Y |
Update 2 old posts for SEO | – | N |
Analyze content that converts well | – | Y |
I met 50% of my goals this month! That may not seem that great to you but the past few months I have not been hitting ANY of my goals.
Additionally, I am a little frustrated that my monthly page views went down by almost 1,000. On the other hand, I am still getting fairly consistent pageviews which is big deal for a new blogger.
Maybe next month I will FINALLY get to updating my old cringeworthy posts but as long as I am getting out 4+ quality posts a month I’ll be happy.
Last but not least, I started creating tracking ID’s for all of my Amazon affiliate links. I am about halfway through doing this. It is quite a pain in the butt to go back and change all of my links but in the end it will allow me to look at the posts that are converting and therefore create more posts like it!
Here is what my 9th month blogging looked like:

Not too much of a difference this month just less pageviews.
I am hoping to see this increase since we just entered Q4 aka the holiday season. Bloggers rave about how well they do during these months so I am hoping the same is true for me!
Where am I getting my Traffic from?
93.4% of my traffic came from social media with Pinterest accounting for 98.9%.

My Organic Search traffic (aka Google) was cut in half this month. Maybe September is not a good month for my type of content. I cant quite analyze this until I’ve been blogging for a couple years.
Hopefully I will start seeing more of an increase as I get closer to the one year mark of blogging.
Google traffic is by far more valuable than Pinterest traffic for 2 reasons:
- It is passive (meaning no constant work to drive traffic. Just post and your’e done)
- It converts better (meaning more money)
Additionally, it can take up to 6-12 months for Google to start ranking your posts, however, they will not have a chance if they are not optimized for SEO. I do not think I would be getting ANY traffic from Google if it weren’t for Debbie Gartner’s amazing Ebooks (which are very affordable by the way).
You can check out her ebooks below:
Additionally, you can buy both books here for a discounted price which is what I did.
Now I feel confident when I publish my posts and know they will have a good chance of ranking in google 4-6 months down the road.
Now lets talk about Pinterest
The Pinterest saga continues…
I’ve talked a lot in my past few blog income reports about my Pinterest strategy so I am going to get right to the point this time around.
Basically I am only pinning a few times a week. Once I publish a post I make 2-3 pins for it and schedule it out for the week using Tailwind. That’s it!
No repining and no multiple fresh pins every single day.
Pinterst is becoming more like google and not ranking pins until weeks after it was published so I am not going to focus on the short term any longer.
I’ve actually started to see a big increase in impressions too!
If I have spare time (which we all know by now I probably will not) I might test a few strategies with Pinterest. We’ll see.
How did I make money this month?
Amazon – $1.07
Another VERY low month for me. Regardless of the pennies I am making, I am thankful that I CAN make sales through Amazon.
I know my affiliate income will increase as I get more pageviews but I also plan on taking an affiliate course in the near future to make sure I am on the right track.
Here are some other affiliates that I am a part of:
I also get a ton of clicks from Rewardstyle. If you are interested in joining send me an email here (Include first and last name & website url) and I will send you a referral email. If you get accepted we each would get $25!

Expenses
Last but not least…
I have a TON of plans for what I want to do with my blog but I know that none of it will happen unless I really devote everything I have into this blog.
I’ll be honest I don’t think that is in the cards for me right now for several reasons. One being I am homeschooling my daughter and two being I am unable to get a babysitter for my 1 year old due to the current state of the world.
Eventually, my goal is to put my absolute all into this blog down the road.
Now this does not mean I cannot be successful. I know I can do a good amount of work and that might make me a few hundred dollars a month.
But if I want to make a full-time income and more then I will need to do much more.
Blogging is NOT easy. It is NOT a get rich quick opportunity. Instead it can be a creative outlet, a business or both. Whatever you choose hardwork does pay off in the long run.
So if you are stuck or losing motivation just know that 90% of bloggers quit before 6 months and those that don’t quit do not make good money until several years later.

Just spent time looking through your blog. I’m trying to read and research pros and cons and find small realistic blogs like yours. Many income reports make it seem easy, but I want to see reality for “normal” people. You seem like an awesome momma! I just want to say keep going!
Thank you so much! I try my best to showcase the reality of being a new blogger for the average person. It is so easy to get discouraged when you don’t see the results that other bloggers claim to have so I want to show what is most likely “normal” for starting out.
