I finally had the productive month I had been hoping for!

If you have been following along with my blogging journey you’d know that life just keeps getting busy for me and I don’t get what I “plan” on doing done.

But this time I finally did what I set out to do.

Of course I could be doing a TON more but that would either mean no sleep for me or finding someone to watch my kids.

Therefore, I am happy with what I have accomplished this past month.

Here is what my 10th month blogging looked like:

Google Analytics Audience Mommy Explained October 2020

Once again I had another consistent month of pageviews and I am happy to see an increase from the last month.

I don’t focus too much on my other stats but my bounce rate has decreased and average session duration increased as well which are both good things note.

Most importantly this month I FINALLY was able to update two of my old posts!

Now I only have 16 more posts to optimize for SEO. Once I finish getting through these I can set a regular maintenance schedule for updating all of my posts which will not be as big of a task because they should already be optimized and just need a little revamp.

Side note: updating posts is good for SEO and is a great way to check for any broken links and add new ones etc.

Where am I getting my Traffic from?

96.2% of my traffic came from social media with Pinterest accounting for 98.64%.

Google Analytics Acquisition Mommy Explained October 2020

My Organic Search traffic (aka Google) was only up by one this month. Not what I was hoping for since we are nearing the holiday season but better than nothing I suppose!

Why I focus on Google Traffic:

Google traffic is by far more valuable than Pinterest traffic for 2 reasons:

  1. It is passive (meaning no constant work to drive traffic. Just post and your’e done)
  2. It converts better (meaning more money)

Additionally, it can take up to 6-12 months for Google to start ranking your posts, however, they will not have a chance if they are not optimized for SEO. I do not think I would be getting ANY traffic from Google if it weren’t for Debbie Gartner’s amazing Ebooks (which are very affordable by the way).

You can check out her ebooks below:

Additionally, you can buy both books here for a discounted price which is what I did.

Now I feel confident when I publish my posts and know they will have a good chance of ranking in google 4-6 months down the road.

Now lets talk about Pinterest

Not much to report on Pinterest this month.

I am still only posting 2-3 pins for each post (that is published that week) spread out during the week and that is it.

My stats are slowly increasing which I am happy about.

I’ve concluded that you need to pin a ton of unique url’s in order to grow fast on Pinterest.

In other words, I mean Pinterest wants you to publish A LOT of new content which is quite a bit of work.

How did I make money this month?

Amazon – $5.22

Rewardstyle – $2.47

I am so excited because I not only made my first but my second affiliate sale with Rewardstyle!

Amazon makes up 95% of my affiliate links so it is really motivating to see rewardstyle starting to come in to play as I add more links.

Surprisingly I am happy with my Amazon earnings this month. The past few months I have barely made a dollar so to get to $5.00 feels like a big accomplishment.

Here are some other affiliates that I am a part of:

If you are interested in joining Rewardstyle send me an email here (Include first and last name & website url) and I will send you a referral email. If you get accepted we each would get $25!

Expenses

Last but not least…

As much as I would love to put my full time attention into this blog, I know I am going to need an income in the near future so I have decided to supplement my “blog” income (if any at this point) with some virtual assistant work.

This way I will still get all the benefits of working from home and a flexible schedule but will be guaranteed income.

Hopefully this will be temporary until my blog takes off and can generate a full time income.

Until then I will still attempt to do what I’ve been doing as far as working on Mommy Explained but while I set up my virtual assistant business it may be put on hold for a little bit.

Regardless, I am so excited for this new adventure and will share how it is going for me so far!

Here are a round up of my posts:
